What shall you do if a dive goes wrong?

It’s not so difficult to make a good impression on clients when you are having a perfectly smooth day. But there will be days when you are challenged. Worsened water conditions, improper behaviour of divers, an accident can occur on your shift. What can you do to keep a good opinion of yourself and the company that you work in?

Obviously, you need to know how to react if anything happens during the operation. You need to know the procedures that we taught to you during the divemaster course. After you solve the problem, your next priority is to make your clients think good of you. They watch you and they judge how you react in a difficult situation. Never lose your nerve, keep calm and self-confident. Talk to the clients. Don’t think that if you avoid speaking about the problem, the clients will somehow forget about it. No, they will have a feeling that you couldn’t quiet deal with the problem and that's why you are afraid to talk about it. So, you need to speak with each of them and find out if someone is still angry and have bad feelings about the situation. In most cases, you can change the bad mood of the group by just talking to the clients, showing them your readiness to solve their doubts or complaints and paying your attention to their opinion. Face angry clients and answer them in a respectful way and you will see that you will conquer respect of your clients. They will stay eventually happy with you.

If you have ever worked with people, then you know that it can be challenging sometimes. The job of a divemaster feels very pleasant as long as we manage to have divers happy with our services. That’s the aim of our job. Clients sign up for scuba diving looking to receive enjoyable experience. So in the beginning of the day you always see them with excitement in their eyes hoping for a great adventure. Now it’s in your hands to make them happy. And even if something goes wrong, you can turn any situation into your favour.
